This is the first major exhibition of the artist's work presented in Santiago. Throughout his prolific career, Tillmans has redefined the photographic image and the ways in which it occurs. In this exhibition, originally conceived for the Serpentine Gallery in London, the artist explores the complexities of contemporary image creation and installation in the exhibition with a unique pictographic language.

Tillmans is a renowned photographer although, in many ways, this is just the beginning of his art. He actively works with the photographic image in all imaginable levels: as a consumer, producer and editor of images, as arranger, curator, installer, and as his mechanic, anatomist, political, sculptor, technical, expert and philosopher-scientist. He is therefore the creator and director of an encyclopedia of images, which examines all aspects of its form.

Oblivious to any subject or definitive style, Tillmans creates installations with prints of all sizes -mostly without frames - attached to the wall with tape or with clips, suspended as if in a design magazine. His experimental approach has allowed him to move with fluidity, combining themes and techniques with innovative exhibition strategies to change the way you create, present and observe the photographic images. Each exhibition is a renegotiation and rearrangement of the material, ideas and issues, and policy research on exposure and imaging-all executed within a clearly defined display parameters and ease of assembly means.
