Sharon Hayes awarded 2014 Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship

The John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation has awarded visual artist and filmmaker Sharon Hayes a 2014 fellowship. Guggenheim Fellowships are grants are given to advanced mid-career artists and scholars made for a minimum of six months and a maximum of twelve months. During the selection process, candidates are reviewed by experts in their respective field and a network of several hundred advisers, all of whom are former Guggenheim Fellows. Past recipients include Vito Acconci, John Chamberlain, Alex Katz, and Hannah Wilke.
Hayes's exhibition Fingernails on a blackboard is on view at Andrea Rosen Gallery 2 until April 26.
